Ask Dubliners for sandwich recommendations and the name that comes up over and over again is Barry Stephens’s 147 Deli, up the street from the Rotunda Hospital. His sarnies are not for the faint-hearted, being generous in terms of meat and flavour. The weekly specials include salt beef baps; chicken Kiev laden with garlic and herb butter; crisp bacon, iceberg lettuce and old-fashioned coleslaw; and Mexican pulled-pork shoulder marinated in cola and chipotle, with pico de gallo (chopped salad), pickled red cabbage, jalapeño, cheddar cheese, cheese sauce and nachos, on white sourdough. Oof.

“"Anything from @147Deli honestly he could put toilet roll in two slices of bread and you would whack it into you."”Róisín - @RoisinTheGingerTwitter
“The subline of her own road, the Line Lane. Pityful a rethoric question ran over her cheek, then The Big Oxmox advised her not to do so, because there were thousands of bad Commas.”Carley KohenWeDoFood
“A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth. Even the all-powerful Pointing has no control.”Corey SmithFoodReviewz
